In the last three years, Julia Michaels has positioned herself as a songwriting force in pop music. The 23-year-old, who grew up in Santa Clarita, California, had a hand in crafting “Miss Moving On” for Fifth Harmony, and ever since, she’s aligned herself with some of the biggest names in music. She has co-written with Justin Bieber (“Sorry”), Selena Gomez (“Hands To Yourself”), among others. Jason Derulo recorded her “Trade Hearts” and gave her a feature vocal on his Everything Is 4 album. Her first big performance was with Kygo, closing the 2016 Olympic events in Brazil with “Carry Me.” Michaels performed “Issues,” the title track from her new EP, at Vevo’s dscvr shoot in Brooklyn, New York.
